"We are Made of Circles and Lines"
A man once told me that we are made up of either circles or lines and that we must choose our life’s path based on this knowledge. I read into this statement a great deal and took the idea to heart. I started to think about lines and circles in a different way: comparing their usefulness in relation to society, finding patterns in maps and road systems, wondering about how roads became and how they’ll end, deep ideas like that. I later found out that this guy was on a bunch of acid when he was telling me this, but I still couldn’t shake the feeling that he may be on to something...or just on something. Who knows. The title of this series is “We are Made Of Circles and Lines” because that’s all we are.
"Drama" Collection
We all have some sort of drama in our lives. This acrylic collection is there to embody life's many colorful people and the many connections we make or miss. Almost all of these pieces are modeled after different people I know. I attempted to portray their personalities in these abstract paintings so each of these pieces will have a bio that describes the kind of person that I had in mind. Some of these paintings do not work together and that dissonance lead me to see the collection as a representation of the way people may not always share the same ideas, but can come together to form a cohesive, beautiful group.
"Creatures" Collection
After the sun sets, the creatures come out to feed! The "creatures" in this chalk pastel series are a whimsical way of looking at abstract shapes and designs. Although they are nonsensical images drawn out of my imagination, they all became entities once fastened to the paper. They are my brightly colored underwater animals and swampy lagoon monsters made of fantasy. Just don't get too close....they might EAT you! Just kidding. They wouldn't do that... (nom nom nom nom)
"Circle Jerk" Collection
The original idea behind this collection was to present the viewer with repeating shapes and motifs in an effort to distract them from their surroundings and make them really fall into the work. Interestingly enough, while I was working on my first few paintings for this collection, I realized that they were taking on a biologic quality. I began thinking about cells and organisms and the processes of meiosis and mytosis. I then ventured into the realm of sex and reproduction and with each piece I made, the relationship between the abstract shapes and these concepts became inseparable. Thus, the "Circle Jerk" collection was born.
"Shine Series 2.0"
Modeled after a small group of paitings I did that were stolen while hanging in a coffee shop (Shine Series 1.0), this fun collection of mixed media paintings is as glamorous as it gets! So far, the collection contains multiple different pieces, all are 6”x6” canvases with different color combinations, crystal elements, and glitter patterns. Each of these pieces is a unique microcosm, meant to evoke the feeling of existing in an imagined state of being. The art in this series is engaging eye-candy for the viewer to visually explore. I like to think that each of these images are precious elements that transform into a much larger picture for the viewer to interpret, while at the same time are able to create an impact by standing on their own.
Collages
This mini gallery is dedicated to all of the collage works that I've done over the past years. These pieces are the most time intensive, structurally creative and masterfully layered works in my arsenal. Most of these images were done in a grid type fashion, with hidden messages imbedded in the layers, but one, my World Map Collage, is unlike any artowrk I have ever created. The sheer amount of planning and patience that went into this piece is enough to make anyone want to take a break for a little while. When I return to the process of creation, I plan to attack a number of ideas that I have waiting in my head by using this intense, mindblowing style.
"Bridesmaid" Collection
It was not a difficult decision when my husband proposed the day of my college graduation. It was however, difficult figuring out how to immortalize my bridesmaids so that the memory of my wedding and their participation in it could never fade. I came up with the idea to make them each customized pieces of art with images that loosely relate to weddings, joy and love. Each of these images was created with one of my maids in mind and so, the Bridesmaid collection was born. The images in this collection make great gifts for any brides or bridesmaids that share a love of the simple joys of life. The works in this collection are available as prints only.
